A Moment of Reflection + Celebration: Our Impact, Together

By Erik Osland, Chief Executive Officer
July 27, 2026

To the evolvedMD team, our customers, our partners, and our investors – 10 years into this journey I felt compelled to write a letter expressing my gratitude and appreciation. Together we have built an amazing company committed to truly transforming lives around the country, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on where we were, where we are now, and where we’re going.

The Osland Story

A black and white photo of CEO Erik Osland's father, Rolf Osland.

Ten years ago, evolvedMD began with a simple belief born from a deeply personal experience.

My father struggled with multiple chronic medical conditions that ultimately led to clinical depression. As I watched him navigate the healthcare system, I saw firsthand what so many patients experience every day: physical health and mental health were treated as separate problems, in separate places, by separate providers. The system was (and continues to be) fragmented. Patients are left to navigate complexity at the exact moment they need support. Providers are doing their best within a model that often fails to recognize a simple truth: people are whole human beings.

This experience became the foundation for evolvedMD. We believed there had to be a better way. My co-founder Steve Biljan and I believed that patients deserved better, more integrated care that treated both physical and mental health together. We believed that primary care providers needed better support to treat the whole patient. And, most importantly, we believed that healthcare could and should be designed around people rather than systems.

Our Growth + Impact

What began as an idea and a single clinical site has grown into something much larger than I could have imagined.

Today, evolvedMD has more than 300 employees, serves patients across seven states within more than 320 integrated clinical sites, and supports more than 2,000 primary care providers nationwide. This past year alone we helped more than 40,000 patients. That number will only keep climbing as we grow and scale.

The facts and figures are impressive for sure, but they are even more powerful when anchored in what they truly represent: people.

    • People who found support during difficult moments.
    • Providers who were able to care for their patients more effectively.
    • Communities that became healthier because behavioral health was accessible where people already receive care.

The Pause Forward

For ten years, we have changed the way healthcare is delivered and challenged the status quo time and again.

Yet as I reflect on this milestone, I find myself thinking less about what we have accomplished and more about something we have failed to do. I realize we have not done enough to pause, reflect, and celebrate. I will say that fault starts with me. My instinct is always moving to the next challenge or the next opportunity. But long journeys need moments of reflection, and this moment deserves it.

For most of my professional life, I have been driven by a desire to build, improve, and create impact. When something goes wrong, I don’t spend much time dwelling on it. I try to understand what caused the issue and then focus on what comes next. I have often treated our wins the same way I have treated our setbacks. Rather than pausing to reflect and appreciate, I have immediately focused on the next challenge, the next opportunity, the next problem to solve.

And why?

    • The mission has always mattered too much to stop.
    • The patients have always mattered too much to stop.
    • The people who depend on our work have always mattered too much to stop.

Gratitude + Growth

And for that I turn to gratitude. With this open letter, I want to create a moment of gratitude anchored in growth:

We are preparing to embark on a transformational new chapter through an innovative partnership in specialty care, supporting some of the country’s most acute patients. Under wraps for right now but this partnership represents the largest partnership I have ever personally helped build in my career. It represents an opportunity to fundamentally change how some of the most medically complex patients in our healthcare system receive care, patients that also experience depression, grief, anxiety, loss of independence, and other behavioral health concerns that often go untreated.

For the first time, we have an opportunity to bring fully integrated behavioral health services to this population at a national scale. And this is all built on trust evolvedMD has earned in both the industry and the communities we serve. With this trust comes enormous responsibility anchored in ten years of:

    • Proving that integrated care works at scale and beyond just academia
    • Earning trust of all stakeholders
    • Serving some of the most complex and underserved patients
    • Supporting primary care providers and providing them the tools they need to manage the whole patient
    • Building meaningful relationships

With that, I want to pause and appreciate:

    • Every employee who chose to build this organization.
    • Every provider who trusted us with their patients.
    • Every customer who gave a young company an opportunity when we had little more than conviction and a vision.
    • Every investor and partner who believed in what we were building.

Finally, I want to pause and thank my own family, my wife and my children, who have supported this mission through countless flights, missed dinners, long weeks, and months spent traveling across the country. Their sacrifice made this journey possible.

Most importantly, I want to thank all of you. Every person who has contributed to evolvedMD over the last decade has left a mark on this organization. Every patient served, every provider supported, every challenge overcome, and every innovation created exists because people chose to invest their time, talent, and energy into something bigger than themselves.

I am incredibly proud of what we have built together. And there is still more work to be done that we will tackle, together.

Honored to be on this journey with you.

Onward!
